No but actually I’m not joking or exaggerating when I say making people work for a living should be a crime because the idea that you have to be something or produce something or whatever to deserve life itself is absolutely fucked and the ontological rules lawyering of “Well we don’t KILL people who can’t/don’t contribute we just deny them the basic necessities of life” is a disingenuous exercise in asshattery.
We cannot ever hope to make strides against eugenics, fix any of the problems created by social inequality, or basically even slow the rate at which the world is going down the toilet if we hold on to the idea that a living thing has to earn its right to be alive.
listen, if you believe Glass Onion’s message of bashing super rich people is a form of “self”-critique, then you clearly don’t understand who the 1% are.
When Rian Johnson calls out fake Elon Musk in his fun detective movie, this is not an attempt at “self-deprecating humor”. Rian Johnson is “I own nice houses”-rich, he is not “I control nations, wars, economies, and the livelihoods of millions”-rich like Elon Musk is.
Rian Johnson is closer in his wealth to you than he is to Elon Musk, by far.
I am all for holding rich people accountable, I support calling out the Hollywood industry. But we *need* to learn to tell billionaires and millionaires apart, or our criticism of the political system will be fraught.
A visual comparison, thanks to Humphrey Yang on YouTube (not an endorsement, I don’t know what the rest of his videos are like)
First we see one hundred thousand dollars, represented by a single grain of rice. Alongside is one million dollars, represented by ten grains.
Now we see one million dollars compared to one billion.
This is a transitional frame to show how much we have to zoom out before the next comparison…
And here’s Elon Musk’s 2020 net worth, thirty billion dollars.
Keeping that scale in mind, see how much we have to zoom out to see his 2022, pre-Twitter net worth of one hundred and ninety five billion dollars. Note that the pile is so big Yang couldn’t even fit it in frame without making the note too distance to read.
Now look back up, and remember that the average person doesn’t even make a fraction of a single grain.
Rian Johnson is quite wealthy, but the most generous estimations of his net worth don’t even place him at a quarter of the third pile. To put a someone like Rian Johnson in the same category of wealth as Musk, Bezos, Gates et al, is like putting a public pool in the same category as the Pacific Ocean. Both have more water than your bathtub, but they are absolutely not the same.
Transphobia is so antithetical to genuine feminism it blows my mind there’s such a wide overlap like you either believe in autonomy and self determination or you don’t
This shouldn’t be hidden in tags!

#you can’t reconcile the feminist idea that men and women are equals with acting like they’re different species
#the feminist idea that women are more than their reproductive systems with the one that womanhood is defined by a reproductive system
#the feminist idea that women don’t need to adhere to arbitrary standards of femininity with the one that they do or they aren’t women
#the feminist idea that women are allowed to have body hair and be tall or muscular with the one that they’re to be scrutinized if they are
#the feminist idea that women as equals to men should be allowed to compete with them with the one that both must always be separated
#i can not consider terfism to be feminism in any fucking way
#and don’t say ‘no true scotsman’ that’s not it
#i don’t consider feminists for the same reason i don’t consider the democratic people’s republic of korea a democracy #or nazism socialism. having feminist in their name does not mean their ideas are automatically feminist
#i’ve yet to meet a terf that actually cares about women more than about hating on trans folk
#there is no feminist belief that can come from someone who views women as vaginas with legs that are too frail to do anything men do
Who doesn’t love when their boss says they expect your level of care in your job to stay the same because of the rate you charge… But that rate is less than market rates… 🫠
Just gotta document the fact I made granola, croutons, kale chips, and pizza dough and did laundry, changed sheets, and made salmon for dinner. Oh, and all while being 7 months pregnant and home because my nanny family has COVID. And I may have done some measuring of frames & pictures for when we move… Plus some mental reorganizing for that move as well… So did I do enough to do nothing tomorrow? 😂
